DANCING ON THE FAULT LINE | Nick Haymes and Love Bailey

DANCING ON THE FAULT LINE | Nick Haymes and Love Bailey

ARTISTS’ RECEPTION: November 22, 7–9 PM

EXHIBITION: November 22 – December 23, 2025

An intimate portrait of friendship and metamorphosis, spanning over a decade, Dancing on the Fault Line centers on Love Bailey and her extended queer community. Equally an entertainer and activist based in Temecula—a notably conservative area of Southern California—Bailey founded the Savage Ranch, a safe house, residence, and gathering place for friends, family, and members of the LGBT+ community.

Photographer Nick Haymes follows Bailey from California to New York and back as she traces her simultaneous journey of self-awareness and discovery. Haymes captures a broad circle of friends and lovers in situations that range from flamboyant fantasy to the quotidian to sobering reality. Beneath moments of provocation and extravagance lies a story of resilience and perseverance, revealing the emotional and physical effects of Bailey's transition. Haymes's sense of compassion and care is evident beneath it all.

This exhibition features photographs by Nick Haymes, alongside Queer Cinema Erotica films from the archives of Love Bailey's garage factory. It coincides with the release of the book "Dancing on the Fault Line," which presents a chronological narrative from 2010 to 2024. The book marks Nick Haymes' second publication with Kodoji Press.
