PERFECT DESIGNS | THE SHAPE OF SURF TO COME

PERFECT DESIGNS | THE SHAPE OF SURF TO COME
ARTISTS’ RECEPTION: June 28, 7–9 PM
EXHIBITION: June 29 – July 26, 2025
THESE DAYS is celebrating summer with the return of surf world disruptor and Parisian board shaper Lucas Lecacheur–aka PERFECT DESIGNS–aka The Nightmare of Surfing.
Rejecting the rigid, self-imposed constraints of traditional shapers, Lecacheur creates shockingly eccentric boards that are equal parts art, weapon, and shred-sled.
At the forefront of surfing’s avant-garde, the Perfect Designs exhibition features Dadaesque boards, an artillery of deadly, custom-designed fins, a skateboard made to be ridden wearing cowboy boots, and a screening of several new collaborative films.
With his motto of “Reject modernity. Insult tradition. Embrace perfection." Lecacheur’s entire modus operandi is a direct challenge to the surfing establishment and asks the viewer to look beyond the conventional walls of boardriding culture.
Lucas Lecacheur (b.1995, Paris, FR) is a composer, surfboard shaper, art director, and multidisciplinary artist. After achieving notoriety on the underground Paris music scene (Bad Pelicans, It's Sunday, and current solo project Château Rouge), he has made international headlines as the founder and creative director of radical surf label PERFECT DESIGNS. His signature style and revolutionary aesthetics are currently deconstructing and reimagining the shape of surf culture worldwide.
